Information for academic tutors
The documentation for this section can be found in more detail in our Guide for academic tutors and degree program managers.
The following information may be of interest to academic tutors:
1. Requirements and functions of the tutor
For curricular internships, the supervisor must be a UMH professor, preferably from the same faculty, school, or university center where the student is enrolled, and in any case, related to the field of study to which the internship is linked. For extracurricular internships, the academic supervisor will preferably be a university professor who teaches in the same field of study as the student’s coursework.
The role of the academic advisor is crucial, as they are the person who evaluates the academic progress of the proposed internship. Students are instructed to contact their advisor before submitting any documentation to agree upon the training program to be developed during the internship.
During the internship, the tutor will ensure the normal development of the training project, guaranteeing the compatibility of the internship with the academic, training and representation and participation obligations of the students.
At the end of the internship, if the supervisor considers that the learning objectives have been met, they will issue a certificate to the student. This certificate can be accessed after the internship ends through the student’s personalized account on the UMH website, in the “Internships and Employment” section, under the “Supervised Internships” option.
